The Role
Working within the U.S. Property Management team, you will be responsible for assisting with sustainability strategies and implementing environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability initiatives for the U.S. portfolio of office, logistics, data center and student housing assets.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, implementation, and management of U.S. sustainability framework, decarbonization roadmap and timeline.
- Support ESG reporting requirements including annual sustainability report, greenhouse gas (GHG), GRI, TCFD and Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) submittals.
- Assist with the coordination of ESG due diligence inspections and reporting.
- Evaluate and drive the execution of CO2 footprint mitigation strategies that reduce energy and water consumption, promote waste diversion and sustainable procurement and the implementation of clean energy sources and generation.
- Ensure oversight of service providers to quantify and ensure the integrity of science-based targets and environmental reporting. These metrics include, but are not limited to, Scope 1, 2, 3 GHG emissions, waste electricity, gas and water consumption and building certification programs
- Foster third-party relationships with industry leaders and partners to leverage expertise and innovative climate strategies.
- Serve as subject matter expert by researching and keeping abreast of frameworks, methodologies, and reporting standards.
- Drive training and change management processes for the U.S. portfolio to improve data consistency and viability
- Liaise with employees, service providers, to explore and implement best practices and effective workflows that ensure performance objectives and goals are met
- Engage cross-functional ESG Working Committee teams from property management, asset management, human resources, and legal departments to ensure consistent integration and implementation of ESG objectives, policies, and goals
- Develop strategies, employee engagement programs, and training materials to help foster a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement
- Assist with ESG portal content creation and ongoing organization and maintenance
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
- Sustainability certificate or designation preferred
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in a business setting with focus on environment, sustainability, or related roles, ideally with areal estate background
- Experience with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmarking (GRESB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and/or other corporate reporting programs preferred
- Working knowledge of EPA ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager platform, green building certifications and the ESG environment in U.S., in particular U.S. regulations, procurement of solar/green energy etc.
- Proficient in comprehensive sustainability reporting
- Highly motivated self-starter that can operate independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage operations and projects simultaneously
- Professional working levels of English are essential for this role.
