Senior / Manager, Development Capabilities & Initiatives (Architect / M&E) (Based in Singapore)

The Role

 

The position will primarily focus on establish and agree base design requirements for all different asset class cross the Group. Document the optimum design solutions and continual improvement to the established design standards. Commercial aspect at all stages from feasibilities to project closure for any development projects.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Coordination with design team for documentation of design standards across different asset class and regions
  • Establish and update of overall design standards and asset brief including provide direction tot he design team on various design considerations
  • Record and provide advice in solving technical issues in line with Company quality standards. Ensure involvement of design teams, where relevant, to maximise knowledge capture and lessons learnt including validation of consultants' proposals where significant risk is identified
  • Identify alternative construction methods and promote project engineering and design innovations
  • Identify opportunities to optimise architectural, civil and structural, mechanical and electrical engineering design and minimise abortive works across the projects 
  • Review key lessons learned from incidents occurring on sites, capture specific design related incidents and ensure appropriate solutions are developed early in the design process
  • Manage design requirements including records on resolution of any design issues, development and coordination of design services in all aspects of the design process
  • Manage and coordinate the involvement of specialist design support services, where applicable to ensure appropriate management of the design process to achieve the optimised outcome for the Group
  • Establish appropriate controls and review to ensure the design evolution and the final design is compliant to sustainability objectives and the users' brief
  • Consider any changes to design and the related potential risk implications and elevate any significant risks for the management and control
  • Ensure local and international laws, regulations, conventions and licenses are considered
  • Monitoring and controlling internal processes and strategically expanding, preserving or improving procedures and standards
  • Ensure all commercial activities are using company business tools and are correctly implemented and utilised at all times; from feasibility until final completion including archiving
  • Ensure the Group standards are applied and procedures are followed throughout the design and work processes
  • Conduct periodic independent audit review on operational procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and department policies

Others : Technical Due Diligence

  • Appointment of competent consultants including liaising and and coordination for the delivery of the associated scope
  • Ensure the required due diligence is undertaken so the risks associated to technical, commercial, financial and legal are identified and mitigated
  • Deliver Technical Due Diligence for the Group with effective communication with stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Lead and/or support with the presentation of clear and concise reports and/or presentation with information structure to meet the needs of stakeholders

Job Requirements

 

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services or equivalent
  • Good subject matter knowledge across the functions of commercial, design, project management and the building process of development projects
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in a professional office or construction organization, preferably with working knowledge of design and build projects
  • Familiar with local and international construction contracts, such as SIA, Redas, PSSCOC, PAM, FIDIC, JCT etc
  • Experience in commercial, retail, residential, industrial and logistics project types across the regions
  • Promote positive team environment, work collaboratively to maximize synergies especially across the Design & Project management functions of C&C and others within and outside Mapletree
  • Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders, as well as people management skills
  • Planning, organizing and controlling skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively on tight deadlines
  • Continuous and incremental improvement mindset – questioning and challenging status quo to achieve a better outcome
  • Problem solving and analytical skills which will include for resolving of cost planning, contracts procurement and administration issues for various construction and design activities
